Why getting EU
Cypriot passport by investment
Having helped clients from different countries apply for Citizenship or Residency through investment in Cyprus, we can identify the main reasons for making the investment. The list is necessarily incomplete as clients are different, have different priorities, different experiences and needs. However, in no particular order, the main reasons for „buying” a passport or residency are as follows:
1. Insurance Against Unknowns
We live in the times of great changes and threats. In many countries, wars have erupted and brutal fighting continues. Others suffer big national and social conflicts. In those circumstances, the island of Cyprus remains safer than other places. The history of Cyprus is very long but the island never suffered during the great world conflicts: World War I or II.
By having in Cyprus Citizenship or permanent Residency, the investor and his family may, if necessary and at any time, just escape to Cyprus and never have to return.
Even a client who prefers a smaller investment and applies only for a Residency permit may easily, eventually, turn it into Citizenship. Looking at the top 20 countries in Europe with the most Residency and Citizenship enquiries it is clear that insurance for the future is for many clients one of key driving factors.
2. Property - good investment in Cyprus
Investing at the right time on the real estate market, whether for a long, medium or even short term, may bring good capital gains or at least preserve capital. Prime locations such as the Paphos and Limassol regions are often favoured. In the near future, unification of the southern and northern parts of the island will be completed, providing a strong boost for country’s development and the inflow of capital from around the world. In these conditions, it is not difficult to imagine that the demand for properties in Cyprus will grow significantly. Golden Gate has a wide selection of real estate as well as expertise to help clients understand potential returns.
3. Cyprus - Safe Haven
Europe, and particularly Cyprus, remains a safe haven for investment with clear and favourable taxation rules, stable and low inflation, clear established laws and democratically elected authorities. Additionally, because of its prime location, Cyprus can be an excellent base for investing around the world.
4. Home in Cyprus
Most investors choose not to live in the country permanently. However, some family members may choose to do so, for example, for the sake of education.
5. Living with
European Cypriot passport
Once the investment is made and Residency or Cypriot Citizenship is obtained, connections with the country increase. It is not just about
„buying” in Cyprus European second citizenship.
Children can move to Europe for education and jobs.
They will have a choice where to live: in Europe or somewhere else. A citizen of any European country is free to live, study or work in all European countries.
6. Education for Children in Cyprus
Once Citizenship or Permanent Residency is obtained and the family decides to live permanently in Cyprus, children can study in state-owned or private schools. In the near future, children will be able to study, as European citizens, at UK universities paying European and not international (significantly higher) tuition. University education and tuition fees are often cheaper. British universities: West England and Lancashire, have established their campuses in Cyprus.
